The stunning view over Poole Harbour from the car park on the MOD firing range
Tyneham Village
Commandered by the MOD during the war Tyneham Village was a pleasant little village deep in the hills on the Isle of Purbeck near Lulworth. A leafy track takes you from the village to the secluded Worborrow Bay. The village has lots of streams and a pond which adds to its charm. Sadly the original inhabitants were never allowed to return.
The village is now in a state of disrepair, apart from the church and the school house which looks as if the children only left yesterday.
To reach the village you have to cross the MOD firing range, so access can only be granted when there is no firing.
This really is the stuff Enid Blyton books are made of.
