Beaminster

The  pretty market town of Beaminster  has three times been devastated by fire. This wealthy little town once derived its income from wool cloth and sailcloth, sackcloth and shoe-thread, rope and twine. Today, the whole of the historic town centre is a conservation area, with over 200 listed buildings.

Glorious walks are all around, as Beaminster stands at the head of Dorset's "Hidden Valley" the historic Vale of the River Brit, whose tranquil beauty hides rare flowers, badger's setts and old water mills.  A Dorset gem indeed.

A great place to lunch or browse the charming small shops.
