This unique part of Dorset is ideal for walking, bird-watching and fishing with the added attractions of the world famous Swannery at Abbotsbury, the Fleet, Weymouth's safe sandy beaches, the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site and Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
The holiday cottages are located in the quiet and peaceful villages of Langton Herring and Rodden. They are personally run by Ann Mayo and her daughter Jane Elwood and are comfortably furnished with features such as open fires, beams, inglenooks, walled gardens and ample parking. They are 4 star rated by the Tourist Board. Children and well behaved pets are very welcome. Wifi has now been added to Chestnut cottage and we have created a wifi hotspot in the Old Stables at Langton Herring.
The Elm Tree Pub, a short walk away in the centre of Langton Herring, provides excellent beer and food, has a beer garden and is child friendly. It also provides a take away service.

Situated near the top of historic, cobbled Gold Hill, C16th Grade ll listed Updown Cottage abounds with beams and the character which can only come with the passing of over four hundred years.
The old Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury stands on a 700 foot spur above Blackmore Vale in Dorset near the south coast of England. Its history dates back to the times of Alfred the Great who founded the Abbey in the 9th century, the old walls of which form part of Gold Hill.
Stroll 2 minutes up the hill to find an eclectic selection of stylish shops, delicatessens, restaurants, galleries and museums.
Make use of the kitchen with dining facilities for 12 people. We can also offer the services of Tyrone Power, personal chef, who caters to villas, yachts, chalets and personal homes all over the world.
For anyone interested in arriving by small aircraft..... Compton Abbas Airfield is within 10 minutes drive from the cottage.
Shaftesbury is suitable for a car-free break as the National Express coach stop is only a minute's walk from the cottage; Gillingham train station is 4 miles away and well-served by taxis. All shops, restaurants and pubs are just a step away.
